Turkish Rice Pudding (Sütlaç)

Ingredients

  • 100 g Rice (1 rice bowl)
  • 300 ml Milk
  • A pinch Salt
  • 40 g Sugar
  • a lot Love
  • Cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, etc. (dried fruits) ・Pistachios

Instructions

  • Warm milk, sugar, and salt in a pot.
  • Add rice to 1 and simmer over low heat until thickened (20-30 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and stir in spices and dried fruit.
  • Garnish with pistachios when serving.

Notes

In Turkey, rice is a beloved staple food, so it’s often used in desserts too.
Rice pudding is the most popular among them. It’s an ancient dish, appearing in 11th-century Arabic dictionaries under the name “Uf.”
