Peach/Doll/Girls’ Festival coming soon

Nowadays, it is translated as “Girls’ Festival” and is a time of celebration for girls.

But originally, it is called “Jomi-no-Sekku” one of the five seasonal festivals.

In the old days, there was a custom in Japan to hold events and ceremonies to purify the body at the turn of the seasons so that the next season would be welcomed safely.

On the occasion of “Jomi-no-Sekku”, people purified themselves in the river and held a party in the palace to get rid of bad luck.

It is said that the combination of this custom and the traditional culture of floating dolls in the river led to the Doll Festival.

So, how about making some Sekku dishes to help you get over the change of seasons?

Why don’t you make them and get over the seasonal change?
