Cooking Class with Guests from Australia: A Taste of Japan Before Sailing Away

Today we welcomed guests from Australia who arrived on a luxury cruise ship, so I went to meet them at Nagoya Port.

There were four of them, aged 84, 82, 78, and 68. True to their love of cooking, they worked quickly and skillfully, preparing:

  • Okonomiyaki
  • Tempura
  • Temari sushi
  • Miso soup
  • Uiro (traditional steamed sweet)

They said everything was delicious, which made me very happy.

Since they had never experienced a tea ceremony before, they also tried whisking matcha. After the class, on the way back to the ship, we stopped at a 100-yen shop, where they enjoyed picking out kitchen tools and left looking very satisfied.

I was truly glad to see how much they enjoyed the experience.
