Kura Cooking in August 2025
This month, Kura Cooking was rejuvenated at once when three groups came for parent-child cooking.

Unfortunately, perhaps it was because of the hot summer, there were no guests from overseas.
The welcome drink was red Japanese basil juice. All guests were impressed by the refreshing color and said it was delicious. It made all the effort worthwhile.

The parents and children enjoyed afternoon tea class and ramen gyoza class.

In the afternoon tea class, we made cucumber sandwiches, focaccia, scones, and flapjacks. The 12-year-old girl told me she liked sweet tea, so we drank summer pudding tea which was a souvenir from the UK. The mother was delighted with the Yorkshire tea with milk. 12year-old-girl was delighted with her first-three-tiers cake stand. We were glad that they liked everything that they thought everything delicious.

In the ramen and gyoza class, one class wanted soy sauce flavored ramen and the other class wanted miso flavored ramen. Both classes were very good at stretching and wrapping the dumpling skins and making beautiful dumplings. All children love Ramen. Everyone finished their meal. Ramen made with homemade soup is really delicious. If you are interested, please come and make some at Kura.

In our monthly Japanese food class, we made a refreshing menu that is easy to eat even for those who have no appetite in summer – sauteed horse mackerel with curry, deep fried mackerel bone, Indian spinach salad, long peas tempura, chirashizushi with herb, cold barley miso soup, green tea dumplings with plum paste.

We didn’t use much seasoning and didn’t use stove very much. It was a good menu. Everyone liked it so much that they are making it at home. We are very happy to hear that.
In our monthly afternoon tea class, we had a basil afternoon tea using basil that is growing a lot in our field right now.

We enjoyed basil bread with salted basil berries, cheese scones with lots of chopped basil leaves, Cake with basil and tomato sauce. We drank basil herb tea, and summer pudding tea.

In August there was a potluck party, a string Mandala art class, and many people came to Kura.
Thank you very much to everyone who came.

Every month, I welcome our guests with a new recipe. It is a time of great excitement and a bit of anxiety for me. When they eat and tell me what they think of dishes, it is like receiving a report card.
I am really happy to hold classes in such a lovely kura, and grateful for the students who come, and for all of you who always support me.
I hope I have a lot of fun classes next month!
