Kura-cooking in August

August’s theme was “Lotus”.

All people who took part in my classes loved dried lotus seeds, fresh lotus seeds, lotus, and lotus powder

The table flower was little lotus seeds buds or crape myrtle.

The welcomed drink was red basil juice or plum juice.
We had a mothers and children’s’ cooking class.

Main dish was boiled Chinese dumplings. Children also made dumpling skins.
It was hard for them to stretch the skin and wrap with meat using their small hands.
It was of course tasty.

A Saudi Arabian lady took part in making Japanese food class with her 1 year old boy.

We made sushi, udon, teriyaki fish, beets soup, and Japanese sweet jelly.
She liked all of them and ate all. She especially loved sweet sake without alcohol which we used in making udon sauce. I also taught her how to make Japanese porridge for her baby boy. He liked it and ate all with large appetite.

We made recovery dishes from summer heat.

We made Samgyetang・Lotus seeds rice・Stir-fried beets, burdock, and walnuts・Lotus steamed dumplings・Spring roll with tofu powder・Lotus seeds sweet jelly.
Every dish was good for health to remove heat from body, keep immunity, and clean blood.
They were meals as dietary therapy based on a traditional Chinese medicine.
A group from Mie prefecture came to attend the afternoon tea class.

We made lotus seeds scones with clotted cream and green bean paste、Lotus powder butterfly cakes with lotus seeds paste, Red basil sweet jelly.
They enjoy Irish Malt milked tea and Darjeeling second flash or Lemongrass tea.
We also drank cold Irish Malt milked tea with tapioca.

Every students loved home-made tapioca.
I had really exciting classes this month, too.
Thank you my students and people who always help Kura-cooking and see my reports and SNS.
I want to tell you one more thing, I finished the course for vegetables and millet cooking.

Millet is not only good health but beauty as well.
I will continue to work harder and study harder.
