A Childen’s Private Lesson: Learning Japanese Cuisine at Kura Cooking

Recently, an elementary school girl has been coming to Kura Cooking to learn how to make Japanese dishes.

Last time she joined with her mother, but today she participated on her own. Because she truly enjoys cooking, her knife skills were impressive, and she enjoyed tasting as she cooked throughout the lesson.

Although it felt like we were taking our time, chatting calmly as we cooked, everything was completed within two hours. She then enjoyed her meal with great delight.

The day before, I had decorated the entire room for Christmas, so we spent a lovely time surrounded by sparkling Christmas ornaments.

The menu included:

  • Stir-fried salmon and komatsuna
  • Grilled taro
  • Lotus root rice
  • Chinese medicinal soup with nagaimo, chicken, and green onions
  • Rice pudding

Her favorite dish was the lotus root rice.
