Last month was my son’s commencement.

It was the last of my children’s school events.

I remembered many things when I attended it,

He entered nursery school in England when he was 3 years old.

He cried and cried every morning when I took him to school.

It took 6months for him to like the school.

After 1 year he entered primary school and an English education to become a gentleman.

After he came back to Japan, he always played baseball. He liked all sports.

He entered Tokai junior high school and then he was a member of the handball club for 6years.

He studied hard but he couldn’t pass the entrance examination for university.

He took 1 year to prepare to retake the entrance examination after he left high school.

He always studied and studied hard except for when he ate or took a bath.

Even in the car to the station from home he looked at the textbook.

He had a headache and a stomachache every day, and he couldn’t see well at the time.

But he didn’t stop studying.

I gave him aromatherapy massage from head to toe at home while he studied every night.

I studied it in England. I thought it was good for him.

But he wasn’t permitted to enter the university he wanted to go to.

He had to take a second examination.

The day before the examination, we walked to the university to check the way there, looking at the mountains covered with snow.

He said quietly, “I don’t want to go to the university in a place like here.”

Later the ground began to shake. Yes, the East Japan earthquake was happening.

It was shaking all night.

Luckily, the examination took place. And he passed it.

I was happy but he didn’t look happy. He had no smile

At last he entered the Shinshu university medical course.

He enjoyed playing golf and climbing mountains. Many friends and nature gave him back his smile.

He joined the golf club and became its captain. He became a good golfer and could shoot rounds in the 70s..

On commencement day, he said “I was ungrateful when I took the entrance examination. Now I am thankful for everything here.”

I was really happy to see my son who has become an adult thanks to many experiences and I am proud of him.

I hope he goes on studying and he becomes a good doctor.
