I love Kaneko Kohyo’s pottery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giyaman is the best of them all! It is a kind of porcelain with a special glass like glaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giyaman plates were exported to many foreign countries, England, France, German, Finland, America, and so on. A few years ago, Giyaman plate were used for a dinner party at the Palace of Versailles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giyaman plates became famous at that moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, a lot of restaurants all over the world ordered them and used them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just the other day, I visited the Kaneko Kohyo gallery and saw some very nice accessories on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They were made from pieces of Giyaman that were cracked, broken or otherwise couldn\u2019t be sold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They say that there are as many of these irregular Giyaman plates as there are for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, the same amount of human labor is used to make them…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rie is a kintsugi artist (Rie @rie_no_ito), which means she puts broken pottery pieces back together with gold. She creates Giyaman accessories using kintsugi techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I admire her wonderful works. I bought a brooch and earrings for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love them, so I wear them every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
